[AD - paid partnership] The latest addition to my lamp collection is the 'Encore' table light from gantri. Created by London-based sam_does_design, it was inspired by curtains in a theatre. I love the minimalist yet striking shape and the soft glow it casts upwards and downwards - and, like all Gantri lights, it's made from sustainable plant polymers and 3D-printed to reduce waste and emissions.

Encore. Inspired by the natural pleated patterns made by curtains. From grand theatres to windows at home, curtains control light and how it interacts with a space. Whether they’re building anticipation when a performance is about to begin, or gently starting the day as the first sunlight shines through in the morning, curtains play a fundamental role in how we experience light. I’ve been designing Encore for gantri since 2019 and it will be 3D printed from an eco-friendly corn-based plastic. Follow gantri’s page for updates about Encore including release dates and more.

Pull up, removing the top cap and diffuser.

Once the bulb has been replaced, put the cap and diffuser assembly back on top of Encore. Slide back to lock in place.

While exploring the effects of light, Gwilt tapped into the emotional experience derived from curtains -- in a theater, concealed and raising anticipation prior to a performance, to the ethereal, warm feeling when the sun shines through your home. Encore is Gwilt’s showcase of how curtains can play a fundamental role in how one experiences light, through control or enhancement. 

The Encore Table Light’s elegant design features a double exposed diffuser allowing for versatile use. Taking cues from the organic pleats created by curtains, the shade’s exterior showcases a unique rippled effect atop a geometric base. Similar to his first launch, Weight Table Light, Encore explores how static products can stop a moment in time while simulating motion.

Balancing airy and drama, the Encore Table Light is a perfect statement piece to intensify or soften your everyday.

Inspired by curtains, the Encore Table Light balances drama and airiness with its elegant double-exposed diffuser, creating an even glow both above and below the light source for a versatile and sophisticated statement piece.
