What emotions do you want to make people feel through your work?

Intrigue. I mostly start off by having a feeling in mind that I want to call up in people when looking at or using my designs. I want to catch attention, evoke curiosity and create surprise. I want my designs to be perceived as not just another lamp but a design that is playful, functional and ideally: different.

What matters most to you when designing a light?

What matters most to me when designing a light is for my work to be as consistant as it is exciting. True to its concept, intriguing to engage with and never diverging from its core message. I want a design to emphasize its defining element: A working principle, a certain movement or the way it is interacting with its surrounding.

What do you wish there were more of in the design world?

Daring people. More daring to do the unusual when designing an object and less playing it safe. I often get bored when looking at all the same designs with slightly different labels on them. I would love to see more decisions made by rouge artists, rather than boardroom-members.

"To me a light is more of a sculpture than a piece of furniture. "
