What's a crazy, pie-in-the-sky dream you have?

I'd love to end up with my own 'Grand Designs' house. I find so many sources of inspiration in architecture that I'd love to smash together into one fantastic space.

What is your design philosophy?

I think interaction is the most important part of a product, and it doesn't matter how beautiful or clever a product is, if it doesn't have a great, satisfying interaction, it's won't be memorable. I love tactility in products, as there's nothing more gratifying than a clunk of a switch or clicks of turning knobs. I like to be a little playful with my designs, as more often recently I see products that demand to be taken too seriously - life is too short for this, have a bit of fun!

What led you to become a designer?

I don't think there has been a time in my life when I haven't been creating. I have a fundamental need to understand how everything works, and why every decision has been made. Often this ends up with me ripping apart things (and not putting them back together properly), but it helps me understand the importance of design in every single object. I love the feeling you get when you have a breakthrough with a design, whether it's realising a new concept or even discovering an untapped problem, and you're the first one to tackle it.
