05.14.2026
California-based lighting innovator and manufacturer Gantri is thrilled to open the doors to The Shop, their first-ever brick-and-mortar showroom in the SoMa (South of Market) district of San Francisco. Located at 320 10th Street, The Shop serves as a gallery and point of purchase for Gantri's digitally manufactured lighting products, a collaborative studio for design customization, and an exhibition space and hub for Gantri's local creative community.
"At Gantri, we've always held the belief that the key to great design lies in the talent behind it. From the beginning, fostering and empowering a new generation of creators to launch their own designs to the world has been at the center of our mission. Our first showroom is a manifestation of our brand and this vision — it's a creative hub where SoMa's tech and creative communities can come together to imagine and realize a brighter future for design."
— Ian Yang, Founder and CEO, Gantri
The Shop was designed in collaboration with Mzwakhe 'Muzi' Ndlovu, whose creative design practice, ZOMUZI, is known for cultivating experiences with a distinct sense of people and place. Color-drenched in Gantri green, the 1,600-square-foot space invites visitors to immerse themselves in Gantri's world. At once futuristic and referential, the striking design bridges a connection between San Francisco's social and design history with Gantri's boundless, sustainable, and accessible vision for the future of the design industry.
Previously an auto body shop, the design of The Shop pays homage to moments throughout the city, including the SoMa neighborhood's evolution from an early place of adoption for Art Deco and Streamline Moderne styles, to a center for LGBTQ+ communities, artists, and counter-cultural movements, and finally to the hub of innovation that it's known for today.
The exterior architecture opens the dialogue with a pseudo–Art Deco facade built in 1937. Overhead, visitors see this influence carried throughout with the incorporation of an Art Deco–inspired field of ceiling lights featuring a repeating square motif. Inside, lush velvet sofas, turn-of-the-century lighting motifs, and Gantri's very own 3D-printed plant polymers offer a visual expression of this meeting of worlds that invites visitors to linger, discover, and be inspired.
A modular "woven" screen made of 3D-printed modules using Gantri Plant Polymers, along with green and muslin drapery, are hung throughout. These fixtures serve as frames for a custom Gantri green table, where designers and clients can collaborate on their vision for their next Gantri light, as well as a configurable shelving system. The free-standing system, made of pigmented MDF and removable fabric-wrapped fronts and shelves, provides an industrial storage solution that can be used for product display or the exhibition of artworks by local makers and voices.
Behind the modular screen and curtains, the Gantri offices proceed through from semi-private to private spaces, serving as an innovative lab where the brand team reimagines the future of design. When needed, these dividers — hung on casters for mobility and customizability — allow the public access to the studio's private spaces for larger events and gatherings, allowing for up to 3,000 square feet of event space.
Previously only available online, the showroom offers consumers the opportunity to explore Gantri's lighting portfolio IRL, where they'll be able to experience the full range of Gantri's color finishes and interact with their opaque and translucent proprietary Plant Polymers. A selection of Gantri's bestselling designs will also be available for purchase on-site.

Gantri is an award-winning manufacturer and seller of sustainable lighting products. We collaborate with the most innovative and thoughtful makers in the industry to curate a collection of lighting that combines high design with everyday functionality. All our lighting is made of Gantri Plant Polymers — our proprietary, plant-derived materials are biodegradable and durable — and manufactured on-demand in California using an innovative digital manufacturing process. Our approach enables us to produce premium lighting at a more accessible price point.
In Spring 2025, we launched a digital manufacturing platform, Gantri Made, that provides designers and brands access to our manufacturing processes, allowing them to create and scale high quality lighting products without the high costs, long timelines, and complexities of traditional manufacturing. At Gantri, we're shaping the future of lighting — where sustainability, design, and innovation coexist without compromise.
ZOMUZI is a design practice exploring the relationship between people, the objects surrounding us, and the spaces they inhabit within us. In isiZulu, the word ZOMUZI (pronounced zoh-moo-zee) means 'of the home.' It is derived from the word MUZI (which means 'home') and the prefix ZO — indicating a possession or relation. ZOMUZI would refer to something belonging to or associated with the home. In a broader sense, the idea can also be used to describe something associated with one's place of origin. Founded by Mzwakhe 'Muzi' Ndlovu, the practice is an eponym of his mother's nickname, serving as a constant reminder to himself of his point, person, and place of origin.
